DP 1911 Basepads are designed with maximum length for positive seating in competition or tactical environments. The unique wedge shape fits IPDA, USPSA and IPSC boxes, (you should always check your pistol in the appropriate box as guns vary dimensionally). There are deep finger groves on the sides to assist in rapid mag removal if needed. We offer basepads for most popular 1911 magazines, and all are CNC machined from aircraft aluminum to Dawson Precision tolerances for a perfect fit and lasting durability. With the 1911 single stack making a strong comeback it made sense for Dave Dawson to make a basepad that increased the consistency of a fast, smooth, positive seating reload that accommodates not only the bigger, deeper magwells on the market like the DP 1911 Ice Magwell, but all other types such as the Smith and Alexander Magwell. DP Standard basepads are factory replacements but extend length, DP No Gap basepads are designed for DP 1911 Ice Magwell with No Gap Insert only. Either way you go it improves positive mag seating.

Reload your 1911 easier and faster

Review by Frank on 7/20/2023

I am new to the single stack division in USPSA. I have the Dawson Precision Ice magwell on my 1911. In my first single stack match, reloads were very difficult because the factory Wilson base pads fit below flush of the magwell. I needed an inordinate amount of force to ensure the magazine was fully inserted. Many times I used my thumb to push up on the bottom of the magazine until I felt it click. Very slow! The Dawson Precision base pads are just a bit thicker and sit well below flush of the magazine well. It takes normal force to ensure the magazine is properly seated and no thumb presses to make sure. Much faster!

The only Mag worth using

I have every mag out there. Wilson’s are the best bar none.
