Great Competition Safety
I installed this on my STI DVC. I shoot with a high ride thumb and the factory STI safety was too small and sharp for my liking, getting uncomfortable during high round count stages. This Ed Brown safety is closer to a rectangle in shape than the factory crescent shape, but it’s not so big that I’d fear the safety flipping off inadvertently in a dump bucket. It’s very stout and I got mine fitted perfectly for good crisp engagement.
Check Hammer pin length measurement
Be sure to measure the hammer pin length or test in your frame. A hammer pin comes with this Ed Brown Machined Wide Ambi to retain right side thumb safety. I would not use on STI, PT, or JEM 2011 type frames. I have all three frames and pin is to short and will not retain right side thumb safety. I gave the safety a three rating only because it is of limited application. Probably okay for 1911 frames. RE: These are for 1911 frames. We have a pin that makes these work in 2011 frames.
